Square Cornered Beech Cabinet
£1,145.00
Jiangsu, circa 1880
This rugged, solid looking cabinet dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and was produced in the northern part of Jiangsu province on China’s east coast. The unfussy, practical style, with heavy frames and panels is in keeping with the style of furniture around that area and from Shandong province to the north. The cabinet is made from beech wood, with doors set centrally rather than mounted on the outer frames and with two drawers above. the decorative hardware and hinges add interest to an otherwise simple design. Finished in a contrasting dark laquer on the inside, the cabinet would be great for general storage in any room.
