Orange Lacquer Two Door Buffet with Flowers
£1,995.00
Gansu, circa 1920
Originally used as a storage unit for grain, with the inside accessed via removable boards in the top, this stunning cabinet has been converted for more practical use by adding doors in the front using what were once fixed panels. The unit has been restored and updated with a new, distressed lacquer in dark orange. The central paintings on the doors are old, showing various flowers in pinks and greens as well as butterflies – a symbol in China for long life and for marital happiness. With removable shelves fitted inside, the cabinet would bring a real freshness and warmth as a focal point in any interior.
