Gansu, circa 1920

This large, old sideboard is from Gansu province in western China, made from thick pine wood as was common in the region. It has been updated and restored, refinished with a shiny grey green lacquer to give a more contemporary look to an old item of furniture. Three drawers and cupboards either side, each with a removable shelf fitted, provide generous storage space and the sideboard today would be ideal in a kitchen or dining room to hold tableware and cutlery.
