Qinghai, circa 1860

This large, beautifully painted sideboard has three sections, each with a removable shelf. The lovely paintings are of flowers, set within painted frames in red, blue and green. Three shallow drawers have been added at the bottom using the original decorative fixed panels. The doors have also been added more recently by cutting what were once fixed panels, as the cabinet would have been accessed through a removable board in the top when it was first made. With the once bright colours now softened over the years, the sideboard would make an imposing statement piece in any setting.
