Grey Lacquer Chinese Kitchen Cabinet
£2,295.00
Shandong, circa 1920
This unusual cabinet was most likely to have been used the kitchen area of a Chinese home, used to store pans. The upper section, with its narrow lattice doors, was designed to hold hot foot before serving, with the doors allowing steam to escape. Today the cabinet is a great size to use as a drinks cabinet for bottles and glasses, for crockery in a kitchen or dining room or for general storage in a living room. Made from pine, the original natural wood has been stripped back and refinished in a shiny grey green lacquer. The cabinet is divided into two sections with the lattice doors set above a second set. Two drawers at the bottom provide additional useful storage space.
